About Us
Whitney Pier
Society for the Arts started in 1997 as
a way to recognize
and
spotlight the
many talented
artists who
live and work
in
Whitney Pier, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and to show
the contributions
that
they
have made to their
community. An annual festival seemed like to best way to serve this purpose and so PierScape Arts Festival was born. PierScape is
now
a
weeklong festival, which celerates
the cultural
richness
that Cape Breton
has to offer
through the arts.
Energy born of talent and community
pride is
the driving force
of
this
fesitival of
entertaining
events.
After our tenth anniversary we decided that we would change the timing of PierScape from the Fall to the Spring.
The board of directors and
participants
welcomed
and
enjoyed
the
change. Artists have
more work
available in
the
spring,
the choirs have more
time to
practice
and the
school has
more
time to prepare.
This year
PierScape
festival will take place
once
again
in the Spring, May 10 - 15. We
look forward
to
seeing
you
throughout
the
week.
